Cannabis tinctures and bottled oils can show several numbers at once. The bottle volume, cannabinoid concentration and full-bottle total are different measurements. Keeping them separate makes product pages much easier to compare.
Start with bottle volume
Volume is shown in millilitres, written as mL. It tells you how much liquid is in the bottle. Volume does not tell you how much THC or CBD the product contains. Two 30 mL bottles can have very different cannabinoid concentrations.
Read concentration and total separately
- mg/mL: milligrams per millilitre. This is a concentration.
- Total mg: the cannabinoid amount in the complete bottle.
- Ratio: the relationship between listed cannabinoids, often THC and CBD.
For example, a 30 mL bottle marked 5 mg/mL CBD contains a different concentration from a bottle marked 20 mg/mL CBD. The label may also show a full-bottle total. Use the printed values instead of calculating when complete information is already supplied.
A 1:1 ratio does not tell you the amount by itself. It only says that the two named cannabinoids are present in the same stated proportion. You still need the mg/mL or total milligram lines to understand the quantities.
Check the rest of the bottle
Read the carrier oil and complete ingredient list, especially if you avoid an ingredient or have an allergy or sensitivity. Check whether a dropper, pump or other measuring component is included. If the listing shows a serving or activation amount, do not assume that every dropper has the same volume. Follow the markings and instructions supplied with that product.
Compare tinctures in the same order
- Confirm the bottle volume in mL.
- Read THC and CBD separately.
- Check whether each number is per mL or for the full bottle.
- Read the ratio only after finding the actual amounts.
- Check carrier oil, ingredients and included measuring hardware.
- Compare the current price and stock.
This process prevents an easy mistake: comparing a full-bottle total on one product with a per-millilitre concentration on another. Those numbers may look similar while describing different things.
After delivery
